Carol Cano
Carol Cano, M.A., is a practitioner of the Theravada Buddhist over 35 years ago at Wat Kow Tahm in Thailand. A multi-ethnic Indigenous dharma teacher, she serves as a Spirit Rock Residential Retreat Buddhist teacher, a core teacher at the East Bay Meditation Center (EBMC), and is the Founder and Executive Director of Braided Wisdom, a BIPOC-led cross-cultural mindfulness nonprofit organization.
Carol braids Buddha Dharma with earth-based practices and ancestral Indigenous wisdom, guiding practitioners into deeper relationships with themselves, their communities, and the natural world. Her teachings call us toward regenerative care and ecological harmony, creating equitable pathways for communities to reconnect with ancestral traditions, cultural practices, and earth-based ritual and ceremony.
Informed by her background in psychology, Carol holds space with steadiness and compassion — inviting clarity, grounded presence, and a renewed sense of belonging in these complex times.
